How about how do I stop the knocking or cause

The car ran out of oil by the time I realized it I
heard knocking noise 10 minutes probably and
added oil the maintenance required went off and
it's still knocking what do I do

Yes, you most likely damaged the bearings. I'm surprised it still runs at all! Personally on a 13 year old vehicle I'd just run it until it quits, or trade it in! Hope that helps! Jim
The damage has been done. No way to undo that. You can use a more viscous oil to reduce the knocking, but that will also shorten the life of the engine even more. If the rest of the vehicle is in good condition, consider installing a used engine or a rebuilt. This one is not going to last.
