This is a sore subject with me. I will not own another Toyota before checking out the oil filter. One the Camry it is under the engine, a foot forward and up from the oil drain plug, maybe a bit to the passenger side. It is NOT a standard oil filter, not a spin on. It is a cartridge type that so far I have only found at Toyota dealers. THe housing is easy to get to, easy to see, but a pain in the but to work with. It is a two part housing, first you remove the drain plug from the housing, easily accompplished with an extension for a 3/8 drive socket. Once that is removed, you insert a plastic tool that drains the housing, comes with a new filter. Once drained you remove the housing and remove the cartride from the inside. Clean the housing, replace the o-rings with the new ones provided and install the entire assembly with the drain installed using the 3/8" drive extension. The hard part, and plain bad engineering is removing the drain from the housing without removing the housing, then getting the housing off without the drain. What CRAP from Toyota. I own a 1991 Supra, a vintage Toyota and it's oil filter is best removed by David COpperfield on a TV special. Again, what poor design. Good luck, don't get burned, and remember the car uses 6 qts oil, not 4 or 5.

Check out this site, works well if the housing does not turn with the plug. Good video on U-tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXLnyzA-6tM
