hey, i took my jaguar in for a oil change and technician said the drain plug or oil filter seemed to be leaking does this mean i have a problem or they just need to be changed ?

He can't tell which is leaking? There is that much oil? Steam clean the underside, pan and filter, taking care not to put high-pressure water, or any water for that matter on sensitive electrical components, and drive a short distance or just idle it if it's a real bad leak. If It's coming out from the plug, and the plug is tight, and I mean torqued properly, it can be TOO tight, there are self- tapping oversize plugs that will fix that if the threads are bad on the pan. If filter, simply change it. But if the dude at Jiffy-Lube or wherever says he can't tell where it's coming from, then those two scenarios are just two of many places it could be leaking. Look everywhere after cleaning, not just those two places. That guy is under cars all day dealing with plugs and filters only, that may be all he is familiar with, and he sees oil everywhere and assumes it;s plug or filter
