Key replacement

Steps for Replacing a Saab 9-3 Key Replacing a Saab 9-3 key can be a lengthy endeavor. However, if the owner has a spare key, the problem is simplified, because the spare key contains the unique code that a Saab dealer service technician needs to program a newly cut replacement key at a fraction of the cost and service time. However, to replace a Saab 9-3 key, blade or remote, when no spare keys exist, the steps are slightly more involved: 1) Owners should call a Saab dealer and make an appointment. 2) Determine if a new TWICE module needs to be purchased and, if so, get an estimate for the total cost of installation, programming, and purchase of a replacement key (and hopefully a spare key, as well) with the correct unique code for the new TWICE module. 3) Arrange to have the Saab 9-3 towed to the Saab dealer on the day of the installation appointment. Often, the waiting period for arranging the above steps can take weeks, if not months, for new keys and TWICE modules to arrive at the dealer. Saab 9-3 owners may need to find substitute transportation during the waiting period as well as a locksmith who can open the car door to retrieve anything important inside the locked vehicle.
