Acceleration Vibrations
Asked by KBurley Dec 12, 2014 at 09:45 PM about the 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2004 Saab 93 Arc vibrates horribly when I accelerate, majority of the time its when I
use my turbo, but it also happens occasionally when I am accelerating normally, or barely
even touching the gas pedal. This has been going on for about two days. What could be
causing it to shake so badly?

Usually a bad shake that suddenly occurs is due to either bad tires, or a bad motor or transmission mount. You may also have a blown out CV joint. Look under your car. There should be a shaft that goes into each one of your front tires. You should see a black rubber boot with ridges that goes into the back of your tire hub. Inspect the black rubber boots for cracks. If the boot is split, there should be grease slung all over the bottom of your car. If you see this, the joints have lost all of their grease, and have become dry, causing the vibrations. If all looks good, inspect your motor mounts and tranny mounts for cracked rubber. You may also have bad upper or lower ball joints. If not able to inspect yourself, bring to a shop you trust and have them go through it.
My 1st. Thought was also tires or motor mounts. With bad motor mounts it might also sound a bit different due to stress on the exhaust system.
Thank you guys! We looked and found out it was something having to do with a coil in my engine. Thanks for the help tho!
I PICK UP A VIBRATION WHEN I ACCELARATE LEFT FRONT , I HAVE HOWEVER REPLACED ALL THE OIL SEALS AT THE FRONT AND GEARBOX AS WELL , I SEE THE WHEEL ARE NOT ALIGNED EXACTLY , CAN THIS CAUSE THE VIBRATION ? RIGHT SIDE SEEMS ABOUT 1 CM TO FAR BACK
WIEKUS, yes, improperly aligned tires can cause a vibration. As well as over or under inflated, poor tread, or a bad balance job.
same issues. started happening after I washed the engine at a car wash. I bet it may be the coils. thanks. Any further info would be appreciated.
intake o ring and clamp caused shaking during acceleration.
I have a 2008 Saab 93 it shakes when I accelerate it does not matter if I hit the gas a little it will still shake and the turbo gauge goes up and down
i have this same issue, it started after i got the car detailed, thinking they may of hit the engine bay with pressure washer...havent had any codes pop up but im guessing it would be the coils
