temp gauge high on 93 2006 aero

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

any ideas. noticed over a week ago my temp gauge is displaying above the normal running - just
below half way. discovered rad fan and A/c compressor wasn't running.

changed resistor pack on rad fan and this is now working. ( overruns when engine switched off as
normal etc ..)

changed condenser and re-gassed A/c. this is also now working ok.

but gauge still displaying above half way point. with roof up or down ( A/C on or off) it still displays
the same. compared gauge with OBD temp on bus and seems to be reporting correct values.

gauge moves to above half way point within 10 mins of driving and remains constant. i.e. driven for 2
hours and now moved much ( air flow might have a helped a little.)

You might want to have someone actually look at it. If you keep replacing parts that aren't causing the problem, the problem will still continue to worsen until you end up with an expensive repair which will then be glaringly obvious.

thanks but didn't answer the question. Garage did look at it and confirmed the failed items after we investigated. the next question is what else could be route cause. this morning driving to work ( for an other car OEM), with heater swtiched on high - car warmed up and temp guage behaved as normal.) thought maybe thermostate as never changed before. now thinking maybe aux belt.

Don't know. If guage is ok then maybe the fan belt or flush the radiator. Sorry

ignore last statement. temp gauge always still reading high. with or without a/c. (must have just been short drive with a cold block this morning. )

I have a 2006 9.3 convertible for a few weeks and it ran at mid point in gauge until the last few days. Wondering if thermostat or water pump starting to fail. The car has been well maintained as far as I can see. No weird sounds etc.

Changed the thermostat just for 74k piece of mind and changed fan relay on fans shroud (not fun for a big guy with big arms and hands). Still running a notch below 3/4 on temp gauge and fans still not kicking on. Did not turn on AC though. It’s registered mid temp consistently for the first month I owned (traded for it 2/2018). Only thing left is temp sensor (hope it is not the water pump as that is a nightmare job from the videos I have seen. Both the 36 and 37 place maxi fuses look ok - any ideas.

I've been told from my mechanic that Saabs was designed to run on 110°C then the thermostat opens... So it seems to be nothing wrong with that

As a follow up - not sure if it is a voltage regulator problem or not, but now my temp gauge and fuel gauge run up A 1/4 in past max and the fuel gauge runs 1/2 tank indicated when the low fuel warning light is on. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect then they go to normal range, but with in a few days it goes back to the ultra high readying. I have checked the water temp when it shows maxed out on temp, and the water is normal.
