There is a small box that needs to be replaced. Then they will need to program a new key. Not a tough job just need the right tools.
That is a theft protection, jerk the steering wheel and while turning your key it will release
Last night I parked on a slight hill. I used to live in San Francisco, where they have some monster hills. It's a city law to curb your tires so that your car doesn't co careening down a hill; striking people, cars, or property. So when I parked last night here in TN, I curbed my tires. Went out to start the car and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition. I got an error message to turn my steering wheel and restart the car. I couldn't turn the wheel very much because of the way that I had parked. Came back inside to look on the internet for a possible solution. Found this site. Went back out to the car and was finally able to turn my wheel enough so that the ignition would turn. Lesson learned. Don't curb your tires.
