I can get the car into gear, however it does not respond. The shift goes into reverse, however the car does not back up..what part will I need to fix it ?

Have you checked your transmission fluid yet? If very low, your car will not go into gear. You have to pull the stick to the transmission with the car running on an automatic. Start car, pull stick, wipe clean, put stick back in and pull out....check level. If low, you will need a automatic transmission funnel. The funnel goes into the dipstick hole. You add fluid through the dipstick neck. Post back with results...

I have a 2001 Saab 9-5 it's done 150 thousand ks it will not in gage into reverse

Same problem but it will kick itself out of gear every once in a while, I did the fluid change and still does it! Need help!
