My 2006 hummer3 would not start so I replaced the battery, now my check engine light is on! What could this mean?

the light comes on when the computer or pcm same thing, senses a fault from one of the monitoring sensors sending the wrong signals. A code reader will direct you to the area of problem. The battery is just for maintaining full 12 volts and cranking starter to start engine

yes, 3/4s the cars on the road have the light glowing, Over engineered electronic scrap
