I have a 2003 Corvette with a Greenwood Ground Effect body kit.

Asked by Wilburt Sep 07, 2011 at 10:39 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

after having the body kit on for six years the car starts running hot.  I've changed
the thermostat, I've checked the fans, and I've had the radiator flushed and rebuilt.
After all of that the car was still running hot until I removed the front spoiler.  Then
it stops running hot..... I installed it back onto the car and it starts to run hot once
again.... any suggestions as to why it would start running hot with the spoiler on
after six years?

The airflow through the bottom front of a Corvette is critical to proper engine cooling. My guess is that over the years debris etc. may have accumulated under the front and on the radiator, and the spoiler kit is accentuating the high heat condition. A good cleaning should do the trick.
