How can I repair driver door that 'overextended' when opened in strong wind?

Asked by KathyEscape May 13, 2014 at 07:28 PM about the 2008 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The door will not stay open normally and will either swing too wide or shut on me when
getting in or out of the vehicle.  I don't know what this part would be called...  a door stop?  
a door check?  Something with the hinge?
