I ran the VIN through every VIN check site and I get every time:2008 Ford Escape XLT VIN: 1FMCU93168KD78250 Style / Body: SUV 4D Engine: 3.0L V6 SFI Country of Assembly: United States http://www.edmunds.com/ford/escape/2008/st-100848605/features-specs/ shows Front Wheel Drive -- http://www.edmunds.com/ford/escape/2008/st-100848608/features-specs/ - shows AWD The 3.0 - V6 could be either. Low-tech way --- tell for sure, lay down and look under the car for a driveshaft going to rear. It will not be a rear wheel drive, Either Front or AWD

Even in the owners manual .. Ford only published one manual. For 2008 Ford Escape XLT and when I look to see it says: For AWD (IF Equipped...) There is no driver input ..it's not a 4X4 if is is an AWD
