lots of them 4 sale @ great price: I smell reliability issues. Feedback?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
just a general question. The VW site and my 'car finder' turned up twice as many of these as any other Jetta model. If they're so cool with all the wiz-bangy features, why is the price so juicy (aka lower than SE's or GLX versions)?

It could be that they sold a lot of them. They sold for $2000 less than Jettas without the Wolfsburg option. Now that they are five years old and the loans are paid off, they're getting traded in for newer models.
Popularity is the primary reason. The Jetta has been the #1 European import car in the states for a long while. The Wolfsburg edition is 2 steps up from the base model with a lot of desirable standard features for under $20K. Alloy wheels, heated seats, remote entry, and sunroof make for a very popular model. The next model higher, GLI, had the 2.0 Turbo and a $25K price. The 2.5L motor and transmission in the Jetta are rock solid. I believe your further research will reveal this. If you are religious with the scheduled maintenance, and put good tires on those nice alloys, I'm sure you can have another 10 years of German goodness between your butt and the road. Enjoy.
