its not that hard. disconnect the fuel lines, drop the tank, tap the ring that holds the pump assembly in until it pops out, then you can pull out the pump assembly.

make sure to depressurize the system before hand or else its guna be quite messy

If your Mustang has a carburetor then it isn't hard at all to replace. On a carburated motor the fuel pump is located on the drivers side block at the front of the motor right behind the timing chain cover. All you need to do is disconnect the inlet and outlet fuel lines and the two bolts that hold the fuel pump to the block and pull the fuel pump off.
