2003 Explorer XLT - shifts hard from 2nd to 3rd - Shift soleinoid?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No lights on dash - blinking or staying on. Just shifts rough from 2nd to 3rd (automatic). Seems to drop right in to 3rd if I let up on the gas a hair. Everything else is fine. 4x4. No custom tires, etc. Stock from ford.

Was told it's likely a $30 shift solenoid by someone that knows cars, but is not a tranny mechanic.
Any idea's would be GREATLY appreciated.

also engine pcm to be calibrated to the latest software version...will take away a lot of bugs...around $75.00 on any ford dealership

replaced 2 servos located on the passanger side of the transmission and it has solved my shifting issues for about a year so far
