My escape 2008 brakes seem to lock up on snowy road.

How does the four wheel drive work. why doesn't the car stop ? My escape
2008 brakes seem to lock up on snowy road. It makes a scary noise, but the
brakes are new, and car is inspected for two years. I slide pretty far before it
stops. There is a button that turns a little car with squiggly lines behind it on,
same thing happens either way. Help

All that is, is the ABS system pulsing the brakes. Just the anti lock system kicking in. You slide more on snow than on pavement, and if you hit the brakes hard enough on pavement, you would hear the same sound.

Nothing to worry about, normal, try not to hit your brakes hard...
