Honda dealer replaced PS pump...still noisy

Asked by july1962 May 27, 2016 at 08:37 PM about the 2008 Honda CR-V LX AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 Honda CR-V started making an awful squealing noise when
accelerating. It got so bad that it did it constantly, even while stopped after
driving about 10 minutes. I took it to the Honda dealer and they diagnosed
that the power steering pump had gone bad, so they replaced it for $545.
Driving out of the mechanic, it was better, but still making noise. So I took it
back and now they say they've gotten yet another power steering pump
from the parts place and installed it and the noise is even worse.

The manager said  they were going to contact the main Honda Division to
see how to proceed, but he wasn't very confident in fixing it since it was "8
years out of warranty."

I have just never heard of not being able to get a working part that would
solve a problem! Is there no solution to this?
