axel damage

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My car was hit while parked on the street. They backed into my front bumper hooking it on theirs. Then it dropped hard shaking the whole car. I have front end damage to my car. It was estimated a couple of days ago. But now I find that my axel is damaged. Could this have been from that same accident?

2009...you can't blame anyone as this could have been due for replacement anyways...usually the boot tears and lets out the poisonous dilithium grease...then it starts clacking and if continuing sounds like a helicopter until it seizes or snaps~ Axles are fairly inexpensive...the labor to replace them is a bit, but once having done this are going to be good for more than 50,000 miles~...the other side too~

I'd look at the control arm bushings...perhaps the bracket and the bushings are in a state....more so than an axle~

the macpherson strut would have bottomed out and may not be doin' it's job anymore...also the bolts holding the strut in place~

thanks....just tossin' some "what's up there?" to the solution of your problem...overall I believe that front wheel drive vehicles are superior, but not as TOUGH....like able to drive on the side of a volcano or up the hill and down into the canyon (even Jeeps get tippy)~~
