Thank you guys for your answers but could you tell me a cost approx of this reparation?
The link Tom posted elaborates on that, suggest going to have a look-see ...one coil is about $27 but if you want to replace all four, $149, NOT including labor
If you want to DIY have a look at: http://www.ehow.com/how_4520538_replace-ignition-coil-toyota-corolla.html
It's odd that a coil would fail on a 2009, you just MIGHT be still under the 5 year, 60,000 mile drive train warranty.....depending on exactly when you bought it...going to be a close one as far as date, but if you are over the 60k mark..oh well

The mechanic at the Toyota Center told me that the issue is the wiring #3 and the repair cost is over $400.00. Damn they are kidding me

They say the the problem is intermittent, coil causes the problem all the time. That is true?.
Maybe. The coil might not even be bad, and the mechanic is right, the problem is a bad connection in wiring and that can cause intermittent misfire. Could be as simple as the connection at the coil, but if not the short needs to be traced. But that does sound a bit steep for that. Then again it's a Dealer, where any work is double that of even a reputable mechanic, but if you choose a non-dealer mechanic make sure he knows Toyotas. Not all do.
Well at least we agree Tom, gives me confidence..your post was not there when I began my hunt- and -peck typing

Hey, I just came back from dealership, the final diagnostic is, the coils are good, connector at wiring 3 is ok as well. Then, they need to replace the engine wire harness. As you might know this wire engine is very expensive. My question now is: Does the mechanic is right or I'm dealing with an entry level guy? Any suggestions? Thank you
Sounds to me from what you describe gmartinez like he did what testing had to be performed and the harness does indeed need to be replaced, they can not be repaired. It's unfortunate that it's so expensive, especially for a 2009, but I am leaning to he is correct. And for the time being let's go with that and hope that the harness fixes the misfire and code, no CEL on and it purrs like a kitten as it should, please let us know, eh? ~~David
Hi, I seem to be having similar issues with my 2009 Yaris. Did replacing the harness fix the issue and turn you engine warning light off? I wasn't impressed with Toyota's pricing or help!
I just had my toyota dealer tell me that I needed this Harnes engine DN coil and they are charging me $1544 including parts, labor!! I have a 2009 Corolla. My mileage is 51,000. Any suggestions?

I am having similar problems. I have already replaced one coil. Now the engine light came on again. They tried rearranging the coils and the light went out. They said it might need a wiring harness which runs 1500. My questions are why don't they replace all the coils at the 60,000 mile maintence? Or shouldn't this be covered by the extended warranty? Anybody have good results with this?
