If you used a k&m you would get better air to fuel ratio.. giving you increased power and if your lucky you might squeeze out a couple mpg if you babied it... go with the premium gas

K&N offers virtually no gains in performance beyond what people claim to "feel" after paying for them. Look for hard data on the interwebs. Premium gas will offer no advantages if your vehicle does not require it. Otherwise, you're throwing money away. "Premium" is a misnomer anyway. There's nothing better about the fuel; it's just made to work with higher-compression motors so that it doesn't ping.

if you want better gas milage pull the head off take it to the machine shop and have them port match the manifold to the head and have the intake runners polished itll cost a little more than a k&n but youll notice a nice increase in milage and get more power too

if it is made for your car, you can get a K&N cold air intake setup, that will give you a little more power and see a slight increase on you mpg, i have seen alot of people using a vornado i think thats how you spell it and see a 5-7% increase in gas mileage, just another option.

Two kinds of engines benefit noticeably from mods such as cold air intake among other things: performance engines and large displacement engines that are forced to meet emissions requirements by restricting intake/fuel/exhaust/etc. A Corolla has neither. And as someone said, premium fuel just has higher octane to avoid predetonation in high compression engines. If anyone thinks that using premium gas will make your engine run better/faster/stronger or get better mileage, they really should do some research on cars and everything associated.

Most people here a right... Premium gas WILL NOT give better mileage. In most engines the opposite will happen (though by the most negligible of amounts), this is due to the fact that premium gas has a lower caloric value... That is too say it contains less energy... That being said I use it occasionally because the cost difference in filling up the tank with premium every couple tanks is worth the increased amount of detergents in the premium gas (Cheaper than the additives for me). However K&N and other premium filters can increase mileage, although once again by an almost non-noticeable amount. This is due to the reduced restriction as compared to a standard gauze filter. This does not apply to the cotton weave filters that many new vehicles contain which has similar flow characteristics as compared to the K&N's... The benefit in K&N's for most vehicles is the fact that you can clean and reuse them, saving money after what normally would be the replacement of several filters. Some will say that K&N's filter better, but I can't vouch for this as I don't know how they compare.

Used the K&N intake with cone on Dodge Ram with 360. More noise, better performance and saw an increase of 1-2 mpg on highway with cruise. On my 5.0 Mustang GT the same with a notible increase in performance at high end. On my 03 Lincoln TC mpg highway from 23-25 with cruise to 25-26 with cruise. on my Harley FLH a little better performance. Now trying it on my 1.8 Corolla. drop in replacement. K&N is a good product and worth the extra cost. Premium Gas is extra money out the tail pipe unless engine calls for it.
