Nissan stops accelerating

My Nissan Altima stops acceleration when I’m
driving and I step on the gas to go a little faster . I
already changed the battery and it did it again .
The check engine light is not on though

It goes up to around 2900 rpm or 3000 jerks then stops accelerating even if I press on the gas

It could be slipping in gear. You don't mention mileage on engine/tranny. If it's high, you may want to take car in and have diagnostics run on tranny, and see if it's working in all gears. It sounds like you lost your top gear or overdrive.
