i replaced timing belt and rebuilt head and have no compression when cranking but can turn it buy hand and has good compression then.it is on a2008 Kia Rio and has varitible timing.

The timing marks where aligned before putting the belt on?

That sounds like the belt was installed incorrectly and the valve timing is way off.

What size is this engine? The only 2 engines I see that are NOT interference engines are the 1.6L SOHC & the 2.0L SOHC.
