Turbo Warranty Coverage

Asked by 330DLR Oct 31, 2016 at 05:31 PM about the 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My daughter has a 09 Subaru Forester XT. It lost power and the repair shop
says the turbo needs to be replaced along with damage it has done to the
engine. She bought the car used a month ago with a powertrain warranty. The
warranty company says the turbo is not part of the engine and therefore is not
covered. This does not seem accurate to me as the turbo is part of the overall
engine design and performance. Please advise what to do. Thank you. JB

I had the same problem with my 09 XT while it was still under warranty. One subaru dealer repair shop said the same thing that you got. But I called Subaru of America and they said that it was covered and they reimbursed me. (I had already paid for a new one)
