Hey guys so I recently got an 84 Monte Carlo ss the
problem is I can't figure out what kind of engine it is it's
swapped with an edelbrock that's all I know and the
previous owner has no idea ether is there anyway I can
figure out what kind of engine is in this car ?

Look for casting numbers/markings on block. Take pictures to show us as there are clues with the placement of distributor and oil add tube location ect.

Still looks like 305 minus the valve covers, headers, intake, air breather and carb. The water pump, power steering is 84 305 set-up.

Find & record & post here the ID code. V8 codes are stamped on a pad just forward of the right side (passenger) cylinder head. What is this number.

The casting numbers I found are 3970014 I looked it up and believe it's a chevy 350

At least the block is: 1970-73, 3970014, CID: 350, Low Power=200, High Power=300, Number of main caps= 2/4 From: LA built Camaro
My block casting number on the engine I have to put in a 79 or 80 monte Carlo is 9788133 can anyone help me figure out what kind of engine ive got
