Sudden death of engine

I have  a 2009 model of Ford explorer whenever i drive, like   
for example a long drive from city to another it will take
pr9bably 1hr and a half before reaching another city then
time to encounter a traffic lights signal when its stop (red )  
idle my gear sometimes i put it on neutral and  my car
starts on shaking and it will sunddenly shutt off the engine i
really dont know what's the reason.

When was the last time you had the typical "tune up" performed? Sounds like it is in need of one but first have it read for trouble codes to see if the codes, if any, are related to ignition components.

Thank you for your response and advise as well. I never had a tune up since i bought this as a third party(owner). If its related to ingnition that i have to to check the codes, do i still need to travel long? Please advise thank you.

Stop for a day and get this taken care of - your trips will be much less stressful. You will be surprised how much better the car will perform.
