Sunroof issues after new headliner

Asked by Katie Feb 16, 2018 at 10:01 AM about the 2009 Volkswagen Passat Komfort

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had my headliner and sunshade replaced in my 09 vw passat. Since
I've noticed that the sunroof isn't working properly. it will open with the twist of
the knob, but when I close it, it will get almost closed and then change
directions and open all the way up. I'm taking it back to the trim shop to see
what they say, but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Take it back to the guys who did the work.

I did. We came up with the reason with the fabric bring a little thicker, when it gets almost closed, it’s thinking that it’s hitting something and opens back up. We are hoping that the fabric and foam will compress over time and hopefully won’t mess anything up.
