battery light on dash came on, won't go off

dash light for battery stays on.

Means battery not charging altinator not putting out enough voltage or amps

Ok thanks Question, I just put a new battery in and the light is still in. So I take it that the alternator is not working. Correct?

Changed the battery and alternator and the battery light keeps coming on and then the car shuts off

Battery light on and off. Now stays on. New Battery and alternator, Autozone said nothing wrong with charging system. It starts fine. Could the serpentine belt cause the light to go on?
