Will a 4.6 out of a 01 f150 fit in my 05 Ford
Explorer also with a 4.6?

The engine itself should fit. What year is the donor vehicle. Just make sure all the sensor components of the donor vehicle are present in the Explorer. You may also have to do a reflash of the ECM/PCM. Also note the year of the donor vehicle if engine repairs are needed down the line. Will save a future mechanic hair pulling if he is changing parts or checking for specifications.
