It does depend on your car, but if it has a computer pulling and is newer it may be a bad idea to pull the main breakers fuse or the battery so check out before doing so.

Or buy a vehicle nobody wants, like a stinking, noisy, wasteful diesel truck.

Most ca s now days are towed away. They don’t care if it runs because all they want are the parts. What I did when my truck was stolen in less than three minutes(tow truck in mall parking lot took it seen it all on camera but license plate was covered with a plastic bag) I installed a hidden gps tracking device. It will alert me if it moves and I can track it in real time on my phone. It only costs 9.99 a month for the service. Mine is made by brick house security. If it gets stolen again I will get it back myself. I won’t call the cops. You can track it anywhere in North America plus or minus ten feet.

Over 20 years ago someone stole one of my cars. I had the battery disconnected. I do not know if it was towed or not, I did recover the car, when I located my 1981 Cutlass the battery had been hooked back up and driven. The trans had started slipping so was abandoned in a apartment complex. The car itself was complete minus stereo system, some damage to interior. I think someone saw me unhook the battery.
I guess I'll stay at the window like Malcolm x with my hammer
