Is my thermostat working correctly

I recently bout a 2011 Camaro LT while driving the car The temperature stays between 189 to 199 but when the car is idling it will go as high as 226 before the thermostat opens should I be concerned
Your thermostat is probably fine as it should open completely at 190. It's the electric fans on the radiator that pull air through when you are idling that keep things cool. The fans have set temps in which they kick on and at what power. That sensor may be faulty, but 226 is not really that bad on newer cars. I would keep an eye on it though.
