Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Brand new. Leaks in at roof front corners and has hesitation upon acceleration. BMW Dealer says both are normal. Says leak is normal cause car wash is high powered. Anybody out there understand this.

No offence but your dealer is a twat. there are about 4 hours of diagnostics purely for roof leaks on the E93 convertable. for the hesitation, are you a gentle driver in general. the adaptive trans software will force 2nd gear launches for economy. try driving in sports mode for a day and see if the hesitation minimises. if it does look at having the dealer update the trans software and then reset the engine and transmission adaptions. after that is done, drive it firmly and the shifts and launches should be better

Luke, Thanks for the help. I totally agree about the dealer!! We are going to have words this week. I will give sports mode a try, I had thought about that but didnt want to force the trans since it only had 20 miles on it when I got it. I also think I got spoiled driving a Benz SL 600 V12, which I sold to get this. Im just so disappointed with lack of punch in the pedal until you get it going on the highway then it cruises along at 90 very smoothly. Anyway, Thanks for the advice

I don't think this should happen. A friend has a 5 series, it hesitates. Dealer told her it's normal... her car is about 2005 yr. It's done that from day 1. I just test drove a 328i, used.. 2008 model. All was ok, until I tried to dart across lane to make a left turn.. from a stand still. I pressed the gas pedal and the car just sat there (in middle of the road...for it seemed like 2 seconds, before it lurched forward). we almost got t-boned. I decided not to buy the car. It was used, and was in EX cond, and all service records done at dealership. I think BMW has a problem with their engines. Any dealer will tell you, that's the way it is supposed to be. Well, my infiniti does not do that! I'm through with thinking of buying the "ultimate driving machine". I do town driving, and when I wanted it to perform, to accelerate out of traffic, it let me down. Forget about it.

Top Should NOT leak unless you are using a spray wand and hitting the seams directly. They test the design in HIGH PRESSURE. The trany recommendation above is good. And yes from a 12 to a 4...you get lots of new driving dynamics.
