What condition is your E30? Mileage? How many of the original hoses, including vacuum lines have you replaced? A bad vacuum line, and there are several, would be where I would start.

As an experienced BMW E30 owner, I'd take a wild guess and say that your ICV or idle control valve need some cleaning with carb cleaner or replacement. It's metal cylinder with a plastic end with a wire harness plugged into it. Also two short rubber hoses and a L shaped fitting. Also take some MAF sensor spray cleaner to your AFM (air flow meter). It's the control box between your air filter and throttle body.

Also check the ignition coil. They are common to fail when getting old.

So filter, pump, regulator, or injectors? I still think it's either the ICV or TPS.
