your cd changer is the the same fitted to the 5 and x5 ,(alpine) the bad news is that they are notoriously fragile i sell about 5 a month . they are a common problem , if i was you i would just buy a 2nd hand one, it could you be your CD magazine(cartridge) but i cant tell without looking at it. by the time you have bought a new magazine you can probably buy a good used changer with one in it. if you can collect a used one personally even better, when i post them out it cost me $10 just to securely package them -thats have fragile they are! make sure you get a guarantee of at leat 3 months with it. as for your phone i would just buy a bluetooth hands free that is wireless and is just charged through your cigarette lighter.
well i live in the uk so i dont know what a good used CD changer goes for, i charge £80 for them in england , £80 is roughly $126 using todays exchange rate. all i can tell you that in the US the CD changer is $500 and the magazine is $47 . the best places i would imagine to look are BMW dismantlers in your area, e bay or a website that finds your parts for you.
