i think you need to connect to diagnostics to solve your problem. the light means you have a fault in the engine managment system.

Sometimes the light will go out after jumping on the rear bumper. Tonight it came on driving down a bumpy dirt road. If a loose connection, where would I look first?

it will be cheaper to connect a diagnostic tool cause you will pinpoint which sensor is giving you this fualt.

I can't believe some of the waste of time answers here! How about some straight skinny on what to do... Here goes: If you don't have a scanner you can go to any Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone and they will connect a scanner to extract the codes set in the PCM memory. The code will often point directly to the problem and you can go from there. Once you have the number, type it into a Google Search and you'll not only find what it means but there will be places to go that will give specific info based on experience on what is the best fix. Don't throw parts at it until you have the hard evidence. If you need help you can message me here or just post the code number and I'll do my best to direct you to a fix. Good Luck! As for those who post dumb answers like the above, keep your day jobs, your careers as comedians are in serious jeopardy. Go away, please.

turn the ignition switch on and off 4 time then leave it on. Lower drivers side window down 1/2 way. Turn the switch on and off twice then honk horn once. This should reset the system.
