02 Gt need some advice on lauching at the dragstrip

I have an 02 Gt and seem to never get my lauch quite right and would like some tips on how to lauch her better to get better times. So far she runs 14.3@98. Thats with CAI, SLP LM1, Diablo tune(standard tune, no custom maps) and 3.73's.

if its runnin 14.3 and youve modded your doin somethin way wrong stock they run 13.8 try different gears like 4.10 posi better tires and short throw shiffter

running 14.3's is not bad at all I was just wondering if anyone knows any tips to better launch and get better times. Look it up, a stock 02 Gt is supposed to run a 14.7 in the 1/4 mile. the new 05 and up model gt's run in the high 13's stock. 1999-2004 do not run that stock.

if they did it was with a professional driver getting perfect launches and shift points. times that magazines and reviews give are not accurate for the normla driver. figure about adding .5 seconds to their time in comparison or even more.

well first off make sure you get your tires heated up nicely before hand. next, figure out where your car really starts to make the brunt of its power and hold the rpms right there. then just practice controlling how fast you let the clutch out. and then hammer it home. just practice i would say. its too hard to really explain on a message board as you can probably see by reading my post haha
