It's not 'For no reason' If the air-bag light stays on a fault has been detected. The air-bag system does a self-diagnostic every time you start the car

Wonder if it has anything to do with the recent airbag recall?

Ford will charge you 1200 just to replace a sensor that become unplugged. My car was under the recall and they said the light had nothing to do with the airbag that was recalled. Sensor was separate. I dont understand why Ford would even wire it to allow the driver airbag NOT to deflate. No sensor needed. The passenger side used to be for small children, but no one under 80 lbs should be in the passenger seat. A truck , maybe, but not a 4 door vehicle. The sensor worked before it unplugged ( got something from under the seat) total scam and should be illegal.

Mandy We just went through the airbag issue also. The airbag light stays on and they are telling us to pay them to have it diagnosed. I agree!!! Bring the car in and we will replace the part but then charge you for a related issue. So not impressed!!!

I have a 2014 ford fusion and my ABS, power steering, traction control, airbag light, and up hill assistance all went off at the same time as I was driving on 40kmp. called ford said its not safe to drive it and should be brought to check and to just diagnose the issue it would cost me $99 plus what ever needs to be fixed. Also said no recall on this issue????

I have received a recall letter on my airbag. Called Ford about a month ago to fix it and now my airbag light has came on. Haven't heard from Ford to replace the recall as of yet.

I just had my airbags replaced and also have the light on. It was 130.00 to diagnose and I would have to bring it back at a later time. I asked if it was safe to drive and they said the airbags may not deploy. Seriously I am so frustrated! I have a 2011 fusion and pretty much every part has been replaced since I bought it.

I just had my airbag part (what ever part are they referring to) replaced by a recall and guess what? yep ,the light came on the next day. It took them over a year after I got the recall in the mail to get the part so they could fix it. So I'm not going to take it in if it is going to cost money to fix what they did. This was on 4/10/2019. I'm also fed up with scammers.

Momsfus12 I had my airbag module replaced by the recall about a week later my airbag light came on and took it back to ford, they told it was probably not related to the recall and wanted to charge me for a diagnosis. I took my car to my mechanic he ran the scanner and told it was the seat belt buckle the receiver end where the wires were pulled of and he charged 160.00 to fix the problem.

Same exact scenario has happened to my 2011 Ford Fusion. I had the airbag recall issue resolved and now the light is on. Please report your issue on the NHSTA website in hopes that this too gets recalled and we can get a refund for this issue. https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/

Hi everyone! I just registered to let you all know i had the same problem, airbag ligth came on after i took my car to get the recall done, knowing how crooked those people at the dealership are i try to loook for an answer by myself. Anyway after many things i disconnected the battery and then disconnected the plugs on the driver sit 1 in front 2 in the back of the seat, waited 30min and then plug them in after that i reconnected the battery and it worked for me, in my case i think it happened when i vacuumed my cars carpet, is worth trying before you go to the dealership because we all know how they do.

I just returned from picking up my 2010 Ford Fusion for having the passenger air bag replaced due to the recall. The guy WHISPERS to me, "Your airbag light is still on." I asked, "Didn't you just fix that?!" He said the recall is for the Airbag MODULATOR, not the sensor. I said, "Well, how much is THAT going to cost now?" Guessing by everyone's posts above, looks like about $60 just to diagnosis. I mean, you have my car already, check the dang sensor before I drive 20 miles to come get it. I've had so many recalls on this "Motor Trend Car of the Year 2010" car, it's crazy. "SHRAPNEL" shouldn't be a concern when driving your car thru a subdivision, I'm not in a war. Will Never Buy A FORD ever again!

Update: Ford owners I just talked to Ford Customer service. The airbag recall I am complaining about was performed in September 23rd of 2019 with the car having 44,600 miles on it, today is October 5th 2020 with the vehicle having 45,452 miles on it, the vehicle has had less than 1,000 miles put on it since the recall repair. Ford's customer service associate told me that it is around two weeks over the warranty Ford could extend. They have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty for just such problems, but since my fusion is two weeks over their warranty time there is nothing they would do! My god the car has had less than 1,000 miles put on it since the recall repair, and this is a safety issue. If the Airbag indicator light is on your airbag system is off! I urge you to think about this next time you are thinking about buying a Ford. Their certified dealership, that they certified sold the vehicle, and Ford's certified dealership also did the recall repair. They are no longer in business with no replacement Ford dealership in it's place. Because of around two weeks Ford told me basically go screw yourself. Is this the practice of a major car manufacturer? I've always been a GM man, and will never own another Ford product again. If they don't care about my safety, knowing this airbag recall fix causes more problems why should I care to own another Ford. This applies to all of their airbag recalls, Trucks, cars, suv's,. If you look on here and other social media 100,000's of people have had the same problem, according to the people who have had the fix done created by the airbag recall it's the sensor that plugs directly into the airbag system, it cost's around $100-$150 to diagnose depending on dealership, and $1000 to $1500 to fix the problem the Ford airbag recall created! I would look somewhere else before buying a Ford. Also this vehicle was stored winters, and kept in mint condition and still is, except the problem created by Ford and their airbag recall!

what more then likely happen is a bumper sensor fell off or broke inspect and replace if needed easy enough to check remove the front wheel wells look for broken wires ect if not goto the rear and look in the bumper also try inspecting the air bag light passenger side in dash if that bulb is burnt out the light will stay on in dash
