Distributor replacement and ignition wiring harnedd

What happens if a mechanic removed
the ECM to get to the distributor to
remove and replace the distributor?  
The ECM is
reading blank.  Do I have to replace the
ECM now.   I am not able to get a
competent mechanic to work on it.  It is
a 1998 Chrysler Sebring Convertible jxi
2.5 V6.
