No. matter of fact you normally drive with Overdrive on except if you are going up or down a steep grade, especially with a heavy load of passengers and cargo, and some folks kick it out of O/D driving around town when you don't get over 45 or so. But at highway speeds it should be 'on' it gives you an extra gear
