can i drive my chrysler neon with a broken tension bracket ,,, the steering is heavy but i need to drive it to the machanic

it is safe to drive but i would not expect your belt to last. in most vehicles i would say no because 9/10 the water pump used to cool your engine is powered off the serpentine belt but in this case its ran off of your timming belt. when you lose your belt you lose your alternator so your battery doesn't charge and your power steering both you can drive without but with your alternator not charging you can only go so far before your battery dies. to save power drive with no heat, or fan on low. no radio lights off and your emergency brake up only one click to kill the daytime running lights. how far is your mechanic from you?

I have a 03 dodge neon 2.0L 4 cylinder, 4 door. I have 2 belts, one alternator the other is the supertine belt, my tentenior broke for the serptine, car was over heating, can I still drive my car with out the serpitine belt with out overheating. Please help.
