what happens when cv joint breaks

have 2004 dodge neon that felt as if the front tire was going to fall off or my shocks were
bad. then later on it started to just sputter and had no power.

if broken in two you will not go at all, if bound up its the brake calibers no doubt, quit guessing and raise a front wheel an look for ,the tightness,compare to other the side,

agreed, diagnose the issue further. with the wheel on the ground or raised up grab the wheel and try to rock it side to side then top to bottom. let us know if there is movement either way. i think the sputter issue is separate, but again without more diagnosing its hard to say what it is. do you have a check engine light on?
