ac compressor clutch

After getting my alternator replaced,
the ac stopped blowing cold air. It
was doing a great job the day before.
I noticed one of the wires was
diconnected which I beleive was for
the compressor clutch. The system
still did not blow cold air.  Before
reattaching the wire, i also tried
adding freon about 15 ounces. The
thing is the cans got empty but I’m
not sure as the clutch was not even
spinning so how could the freon be
added.

I would guess the A/C compressor wire got bumped off while installing the alternator. It's good that you plugged it back in. Now check the A/C compressor fuse which may have burned out if the wire grounded out while unhooked. Freon can actually be added without compressor running but it's not as easy, and in this case probably isn't needed. Check that first....the fuse.
