'02 Dodge Neon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Blows out cold air instead of hot while on heat. But
after driving it 40mi home and getting only 5mi
from my house the temperature gauge started
going up. But didn't get in the red till I made it the
whole 5mi to my drive way and I coasted into my
driveway to try and not completely blow it up. But
what would cause that? Was there not any anti-
freeze in the water? Or just no coolant? Or is a high
dollar fix?

I would try checking your coolant level first you might be a little low

Ditto - check coolant level. Low coolant can keep heater core from getting any coolant flow. Can also cause car to run hot then overheat.
