Heater mode control 2001 Durango

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Mode will not change from defrost to vents to floor ect.   Heat cool to hot works
fine  Blower motor works fine   Just turning the mode know yields no results

try replacing the resister... it's a nine dallor part from a dealership but don't pay for them to do it. All it consist of is a wiring harness under the passenger side dash and two screws. hopefully that helps

IIRC the resistor is only used for the fan speed, the rest of the HVAC controls are vacuum powered. Check the vacuum line that goes across the firewall in the engine bay, it T's off and feeds the HVAC controls and the cruise control. The HVAC line goes through the firewall to the back of the HVAC panel, it may have broken or fallen off either in the engine bay or at the back of the HVAC panel

there is a vacuum driven chamber that opens and closes the dampers. check to see if it is still attached, look under the dash while moving the selector knob and look for a plunger moving up and down that is it.

Mine is electronic I pulled switch controls out push them in and it works fine wasn't plugged in all the way
