Are there two transmissions for the dodge neon? I have problems with it shifting. I had to replace the radiator because the cooling line broke off. Now it stays in second gear. On checking in the forum it says I have a problem with thw shift solenoid. The transmission on my 2001 neon SE does not have the shift solenoid it shows in their trouble shooting guide. Anyone know where the solenoid is located? 1 Answer

I have a 2001 Dodge Neon with 120,000 miles on it. A few weeks ago, the check eng. light came on. I code checked it and got P0743, TCC solenoid. I did some looking online and saw a lot of people say that it COULD be as simple as removing the connector to the TCC, cleaning it with a plastic safe cleaner and replacing it, making sure it seats well. My question: would this be the correct first step? How can I get to the connector easily without taking half the engine apart? Any other suggestions? 1 Answer

We just purchased a used 1995 Dodge Neon and we are having problems with it. The problem is the car will drive for approximately 15 to 20 minutes and the engine begins to jump and miss. When this occurs, we stop the car and let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes and then it will go for about 8 miles (10 to 15 minutes) and will start missing and jumping again. We took it to advance auto and they used a computer diagnostic machine and told us the ignition coil was malfunctioning, so we replaced it but it is still doing the same thing (missing and jumping). My wife says she smells a gas/fuel smell when it starts. Also, thought I had water in the gas tank, so I used dry gas but that didn't help either. Do the 1995 Neon's have a particular problem that sounds like mine? Thank you for any help you can give. 5 Answers
