Too many miles?
Asked by Michael Dec 29, 2018 at 10:33 AM about the 2013 Hyundai Equus Signature RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
How many miles is too many miles for a
Hyundai Equus Signature, or a BMW, or a
Mercedes-Benz? At what point would you
say this car has too many miles for the cost?
I would want to keep the car for 200,000
miles if I bought it?

Buy a low mile car well under 100,000 miles. Cost is relative. I would buy a clean BMW with 200,000 miles for a dollar.
Thank you for your reply. I understand your answer to mean that the general rule to buy a low mile car is the best rule--regardless of the quality of the "luxury" car. A 200,00 mile car, even if a BMW, is worth one dollar.
Great answer--very practical and to the point. Also applies to how much money I want to invest in the price of the car, over x number of years that I own and maintain it....start off with a $20,000 used car with 50k miles or a $20,000 new car with 0 miles.... Thanks.

Im looking at a 2011 equus it has 200k miles how many more miles would that modal last compared to a lexus 460 ls?
I searched over one year for an Equus Ultimate with very low miles, (22,249 to be exact). I have owned the Jaguar Sedan, Lexus Sedan and this car in every aspect is as good as those two. But very poor gas mileage if that matters to you. I would not even consider a car that had over 40,000 miles. I was patient and had to be but lost several when trying to negotiate a lower price. As soon as I found this car I didn't even ask for any reduction and arranged to pay cash immediately as there were several buyers wanting it. I had to ship it from Georgia to Washington State and bought sight unseen other than a video that they sent me of the car in detail. Always search for a car with the lowest amount of miles and a car with 200,000 miles is just asking for excessive car repairs and continuous repair issues.
