Question about if the t-stat is right in or if it might be stuck closed. Also a question about how warm the new t-stat is. You can take the t-stat out and test it by poring boiling water over it and see if it opens.
did you tried the heater core that may be the problem

had the same exact problem its the heater core i reversed flushed it and it worked... thats the best way to remove a clog in a heater core.. good luck
Did anyone answer you? I have changed the heater core in 97 Dakota ( it leaked) , 98 Durango ( no heat or not much heat. Both have extreme warm heat. I bought a 99 Durango last year in the summer. I didn't get to drive it in the winter... No heat. Still haven't changed the heater core. I have done the same .. flushed heater core, no blockage... Read that system may have air init. Took off radiator cap and let it run forever to get t stat to open it finally sucked down some coolant. It now has some heat but not enough. Today I was doing the cap off thing again.and was watching the fan . It was on the whole time. I thought a clutch fan only spins after it hits a certain temp. Went to Auto zone and guy told me that it spins all the time so I didn't buy one. If the fan never stops, how is the water flowing through supposed to get hot. I really don't want to take the whole thing apart, but it seems that has worked with the other two. What a huge pain in the toolbox!
