I just bought a 1989 Toyota pickup 22r motor and it doesn't have much power and I noticed that what ever sensor is on top of the motor the hose is broke what could it be

You answered your own question. It's the hoses to the top of the engine. Replace them and I bet you have a lot more power.

BOHOLMark do you happen to know if I can just replace the hoses or is that a sensor and if so which one

Couldn't say for sure but if you go to YouTube I bet you can find a video on how to do it.

click on it to size up ..the big one in rear is where the PCV valve is and one in front is return air to crankcase from air filter

Its the top on not the lower one fordnut! And thank you for giving me assistance! Any advice! It does sound like a vaccum hose but its rubber but the tip connector is what's broke?

The PCV valve..this is closer to stock, that one is a "build"

Very simple and under $5 for PCV valve..pulls right out... and another $5 for hoses, take them with you to get same size and replace like they are

And its more towards the back of the motor this motor looks to new! I just got the truck as a quick buy I only paid 300 and so far the only problem is that damn hose and no reverse or neutral as I learned the hard way any advice Fordnut

Yeah, somebody polished it up for a photo-shoot. As for the transmission, you are talking a shop. Unlikely a DIY fix on that ..why it was so cheap they knew the tranny is bad

Thank you for you help its really helped and I knew the tranny didn't have reverse but I needed a vehicle yes it has its problems but we know the saying we get what we pay for! I needed something to tote the small family around and this is what I rushed into! Hope full tranny doesn't quit going I'm drive anytime soon!

Morning F.N. Seems like Randy L. Here has to make a decision. Do the tranny and straighten out the engine or scrape it. The good part is at $300.00 ol'Randy isn't going to get hurt. It's worth that in scrap.

Oh it will go 2 weeks as long as you don't have to back up, and throwing 10 bucks in it for the engine is worth that much

F.N. Something that old, can Randy put a standard transmission in it? As far as I recall they came set up from the factory for auto or Standard transmission to be installed along the assembly line.

Yes they did have a 4-speed manual that year. I need to look around to see if it will swap without changing transmission mounts and/or driveshaft, just be a minute

I used to sell them back then when I lived in Key West. They were simple and bullet proof. So I wouldn't be surprised.

Ok can be done but for that truck probably not worth it. bell housing bolt pattern same but needs longer driveshaft, and the clutch kit, which does NOT include pedal, it gong to run close to $1k, for a $500 (guessing) used manual tranny... and clutch kit another $300, and a LOT of work getting the holes cut in firewall etc.

So be better off just putting an automatic transmission in what if I rebuilt it or had someone else rebuild it would it be worth it! And I don't need reverse but by guessing how long til the tranny is completely shot

Say F.N. is the Ford Ranger available in a crew cab in the states? They are here and we've add it to the possibilities. It comes with a 2.2 turbo diesel. Auto or 5 speed. The 2015's offer a 3.2 but I think it's gas.

My wording is bad. I mean $1k total for everything. And to have your automatic rebuilt will run you somewhere around $6-800, and that's if you take it out yourself and take to shop and re-install yourself...and the problem with that is they can't test it, unless the shop has a bench tester and very few do, so they probably won't guarantee it without doing the R&R

It's a Goodyear Eagle on an alcohol/nitro 8,000 HP, no typo 8 thousand horsepower dragster. I picked it because I thought it was way cool, the timing of the shot with the tire distorted right when the driver let the clutch go..already running at 8500 rpm just before the tire loses traction and when it does, it is spinning so fast it gets 50% bigger around from centrifugal force. They hold 3 psi of air, are good for 3 to 4 runs tops. 2 or 3 years ago NHRA shortened the drag strip from 1/4 mile to 1000 feet, cutting 320 feet off.

same shot bigger ...takes 32 bolts to bolt tire on wheel or wheel would just spin inside tire. Consumes 11 gallons of alcohol per second. Spark plugs are good for 1 run..actually they are burnt up 1/2 way down at 500 feet and it runs strictly from compression and heat

Funny Car ran a 3.58 ET w/ 320 TS in Pomona, (1000 ft) Top Fuel Dragster 3.97 ET 358 TS 1/4 mile in Famoso (Bakersfield) and it was 2008 longer that I thought they shortened track. Man I will stop, I really get in to these machines and could go on and on
