I have a 1986 Mercedes 190D. How often should the timing chain be replaced?

I had an "84 190D 2.2, basically the same engine. It had over 400,000 kms (240,000 miles). No problem with the timing chain. BUT you must change the engine oil every 12K Kms, (7K miles).

100,000 miles is the recommended interval. Be sure to replace the guide runners and the hydraulic tensioner at the same time as these items wear along with the chain
