Question type: Maintenance & Repair

(Bad gas smell when parked inside garage)
Block mounted fuel pump
The vent line from the tank is plugged also the canister has been removed.
I replaced the fuel filter & all lines with new ones from the frame to the carb.
Any help will be appreciated.

Check and make sure all the gas lines are tight and not leaking gas. I had the same problem with my Edelbrock carburetors (two) and had to rebuild them as the gaskets were leaking and the float was bad. This stopped the problem along with refastening the fuel lines. I have a gas return line from my pump and at first did not have it connected and it ran fine. I later reconnected it when the pump started to squirt gas on the headers. Not a good thing there. If the original gas cap is vented and the return lines are hooked up, that is what you need. Make sure you have the correct fuel pump for your S-10. The type of carburetors is of no consequence to the return line. I'd put the return line back in use if it calls for it.

Sorry for the delayed reply, had back surgery just beginning to start back on my money rat hole projects! The problem with the gas smell turned out to be the rubber hose from the filler neck to the gas tank. Replaced hose & clamps, took care of my problem, thanks everyone. Moparx2

Thanks for the reply. It sure is a joy to find the problem and get it fixed. Like getting your taxes back and find out THEY owe you a tax return.
