Subaru Wrx 2012

Asked by Austin Dec 01, 2017 at 06:13 AM about the 2012 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving to work around 5:30 this morning, woke up a
little lat didn’t have time to warm up the car before I left.
It’s about 38 degrees right now so I jumped into my car
and drove 5-7 miles on the freeway with no problems
going around 71-73 and when I got off the freeway and
slowed down my car smelt like it was burning really bad,
the rpms would dip down to about 500 and it would shake
as if it was getting ready to stall. When the rpms got down
really low my traction control light would turn on. Any idea
as to what this could be?

one of the pulleys is seized and the belt was rubbing on it ? have you looked under the hood ?

I have not, but I got in my car about 30 mins ago and my A/C is out. It’s just blowing hot air at a constant rate no mater what power I have it too (Low-Medium-High) I’m assuming that this is where the smell is coming from and my RPMs are dropping do to the fact the A/C pulls power?
